Brand

Brand

The marks, the colour, the typeface and the rules for using them. Two rules override everything else: the dot is always amber, and the cross stays inside the circle.

The mark

A circle with a cross contained inside it: the XOR gate (⊕, U+2295), a hollow amber stroke on dark. The cross never touches or passes the ring.

The double reading is the point: the same glyph is the XOR logic gate and a crosshair. Logic and targeting in one symbol, which is what a cyber test-and-evaluation brand needs. Lean on both readings; never resolve it to only one.

Clearspace
At least the mark's radius on every side. Nothing (type, an edge, another logo) enters that box.
Minimum size
Mark 20px / 6mm. Wordmark 90px / 22mm wide. Below that, drop the by-line first, then use the mark alone. Never render the wordmark so small the amber dot is lost.

The wordmark

Styled text, never an image: JetBrains Mono 700, tracking 0.1em. Letterforms are #F2EAD6 on dark and #14120E on paper. The dot is always amber, #E8B84B: the one fixed point across every surface.

Colour

One brand hue. Amber is the only colour with a ladder and the only one that glows; everything else is a flat signal with a single value.

The amber ladder

  • #e8b84b--xor-amberbody, action, brand
  • #ffcf6a--xor-amber-brightheadings, active
  • #ffe6a6--xor-amber-hotthe one signal
  • #9a8a5e--xor-amber-dimsecondary
  • #6e6144--xor-amber-faintchrome

Grounds

  • #0a0805--xor-phosphornear-black · operator
  • #111111--xor-flat-darkdecks · UI
  • #FAF8F2--xor-paperprint · board

Flat signals

  • #6ee7a8--xor-datameasured values, success, agent
  • #f0d890--xor-warningamber's caution stop
  • #ff5f57--xor-failurefailure, error
  • #38bdf8--xor-infoinfo, target
  • #a78bfa--xor-modelmodel, reasoning

Colour never carries meaning alone. Status pairs a glyph with a brightness step, and the amber ladder is a single hue. Low-vision, monochrome and dim-display readers may not resolve its steps, so the label or glyph beside it always has to be sufficient on its own.

Typography

Monospace is the voice: the typeface of logs, traces and receipts, which is what the product records. Two supporting faces exist only where long reading in monospace turns punishing.

JetBrains Mono
Primary. Screen, deck, UI, labels, data, and the wordmark. SIL Open Font License, free to embed.
Inter
Long-form body in branded print and one-pagers only. SIL Open Font License.
Aptos
Office documents: memos, letters, reports. Ships with Microsoft 365; outside Office, fall back to Inter rather than redistributing it.

Never

  • Stretch or distort either mark
  • Recolour the mark, or swap the amber dot
  • Fill the disc, or let the cross pass the ring
  • Rotate the mark, or apply effects in print
  • Rebuild the wordmark in another typeface
  • Place the mark directly on photography

On photography or busy imagery, put the mark on a solid holding panel (near-black or paper) or a calm area with enough contrast. Contrast must pass WCAG AA.

SVG is the source of truth for screen, web and product. Everything below is served from this site.

The colour, type and motion tokens are published in both formats and are the single source for code: xorcise-tokens.css and xorcise-tokens.json. This site is built on them.
